    for the film im working on, im skint but my dad has an 8mm handy cam and we have an old vhs camera, how would i edit either the film on these easyest and if my film was brilliant would it be acceptable to be filmed on these cameras?

    Both should be fine, but i'd use the 8mm one.

    transfer it all on to your computer... go out and buy yourself a cheap analog video capture card... or go from camera to vcr... and do it the old fashioned way... the quality will be shiat though...

    That's one way of doing it.

    Up until now, I've been using an 8mm camera and there are many ways to manipulate it so it's easy to work and edit.

    I can't remember what its called, something like direct or on the spot editing. That's what I do. This will cancel out the need for a computer and lots of expensive equipment.

    Basically, when you film, you edit. Therefore, you do scene 1 first, scene 2 second, scene 3 third. It may take a little longer but if its only a 15 minute short then its no real hassle.

    Then just hook your PC up to a mixer or whatever and simply play music off your PC, or CD player or tape recorder whilst you let the pre-edited movie roll onto VHS.

    but like, how on earth would i edit out scenes, put in music and stuff?
